1966 Plymouth Belvedere II — Family Car With an Attitude
There's nothing subtle about a '66 Belvedere in Racing Green, and we didn't try to make it subtle. This car didn't leave the factory with a big block under the hood. It started life considerably more modestly, as most family cars did. Somewhere along the way, though, subtlety went out the window—and a 440 went between the fenders. Sixty years after Plymouth built it, that combination of ordinary family-car sheetmetal and decidedly less-ordinary horsepower is exactly what we love about it. The wheels retain an OEM-style appearance—no five-spoke billet, no giant deep-dish chrome. Part of that is taste, and part of it is honesty: this body deserves to look like it rolled off the Belvedere line and just happened to keep getting meaner under the hood.
